Under the general direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation, is responsible for the  management and operation of all parkland and open space including Forestry, Horticulture, Athletic Facilities, Turf Maintenance, Maintenance Operations, and Capital Projects along with providing a high standard of customer service. This position is also responsible for ensuring that activities and operations are in compliance with all related legislative policies, regulations, corporate policy and direction. 


A three (3) year diploma/degree from a recognized college/university in horticulture or related area of study. Four (4) years experience in a Parks/Horticultural environment together with three (3) years of supervisory/management experience including sport fields, arboriculture, horticulture and parks operations.  Municipal experience is considered an asset.  Experience in Arboriculture Management with a Certified Arborist Certificate is considered an asset.  The incumbent must possess strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.  Excellent public relations skills are mandatory. A competent understanding of all related legislation and regulations including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Ontario Municipal Act is required.  Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer software is required including Microsoft Office programs. 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Successful candidate will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Police Information Check.  Required to work outside and beyond the normal hours of work without compensation. Must possess a valid Class G Driver's Licence for the Province of Ontario and must be able to use a personal vehicle for job duties.

Remuneration Range: $47.93 - $59.95 per hour working 40 hours per week ($99,694 - $124,696 per annum) plus a comprehensive benefit package.
