40 hour week

The Corporation of the City of Brockville invites applications from qualified and interested candidates for the Public Works/Parks Foreman position in our Operations Department. 

Under the direction of the Supervisor Public Works and Parks, the Foreman assists in maintaining good stewardship of all City owned property and facilities and is a leader and role model for employees.  The Foreman ensures the regular inspection of all property and facilities under their jurisdiction, including harbor and island operations, and reports or remedies any irregularities.  Investigates complaints and concerns and follow up with appropriate decisions or actions. Applicants must have a secondary school diploma and a Class D Driver’s License with Z Endorsement.  Completion of post-secondary education related to parks and recreation is preferred.  The position requires knowledge of forestry, Transport Canada Navigable Water Protection Act, Marine Safety requirements for small vessels, Fisheries and Oceans environmental response requirements and Environment Canada migratory bird regulations.  The successful candidate will have a minimum four (4) years related experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably in a municipal environment.

The position requires forty (40) hours per week with an on-call (standby) requirement and rotating eight (8) hour shift work during winter control periods. The position will directly supervise all full-time, part-time, students and security personnel.
