Title:                          Food and/or Boat Concession

Work Period:             June to Labour Day

Location:                   Byng Island; Pinehurst

Pay Range:               $14.00 per hour for over 18 years of age / $13.15 per hour for
                                       under 18 years of age

Shift:                        Full and part time positions

Summer Employment for Students

Reporting to the Park Superintendent the food and/or boat concession staff are responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the operation of the concession stand with an emphasis on food preparation, serving customers and maintaining a clean area. They will also be responsible for renting of canoes and pedal boats to customers, along with maintaining and issuing safety equipment for rentals.

FOOD CONCESSION
Specific Duties:

    • Selling food and beverages to park customers
    • Responsible for taking orders and handling transactions
    • Responsible for balancing daily cash reports
    • Ensure food preparation is in compliance with Ontario Health Regulation
    • Receiving and stocking of supplies
    • Responsible for opening and closing facility as required
    • Maintaining a clean and safe area
    • Assist in the general maintenance and cleanliness of the park

    Qualifications:

    • Excellent customer service and public relation skills
    • Food preparation experience is an asset
    • Knowledge of park facilities and activities
    • Basic math skills, so you can accurately account for cash and inventory
    • Ability to work weekend, evenings and holiday shifts
    • Possess or are willing to take the Food Safety Certification Course

    All successful candidates must be available to work the duration of the season, 35/40 hours per week and possess their own Green Patch CSA approved safety boots.

    BOAT CONCESSION

    Reporting to the Park Superintendent the boat concession staff are responsible for the
    renting of canoes, kayaks and pedal boats to customers and providing safety equipment
    and clear operating instructions.

    Specific Duties:

    • Responsible for issuing safety equipment to boaters
    • Provide clear instruction in the safe use of the equipment
    • Responsible for opening and closing facility as required
    • Responsible for ensuring that rental form is completed, proper identification and the damage deposit are secured
    • Responsible for handling cash transactions and balancing the proceeds at the end of the shift
    • Maintain clean and safe work areas
    • Provide quality customer service

    Qualifications:

    • Must be currently enrolled as a full time student
    • Excellent customer service and public relation skills
    • Experience in canoeing is an asset
    • Knowledge of park facilities and activities
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to work weekend, evenings and holiday shifts

    All successful candidates must be available to work the duration of the season, 35/40 hours per week and possess their own Green Patch CSA approved safety boots. Must also be willing to work in all weather conditions.
